The Ankh
The Ankh was for the ancient Egyptians, the symbol and actual Hieroglyphic of life. In tomb inscriptions, gods and pharaohs are often pictured holding the ankh, which forms part of the hieroglyph for "health" and "happiness". It has been suggested that it combines the male and female symbols of Osiris (the cross) and Isis (the oval) and therefore signifies the union of heaven and earth.
